Care Homes With Nursing
Care Homes with Nursing
Care Homes with Nursing, or Nursing Homes as they are more commonly called, provide a higher level of care than residential homes. In most cases they will offer all of the services of a residential care home.
Nursing homes have a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day and cater for people that require regular medical intervention.
It is unlikely that you would choose to move into a nursing home. You will normally be advised to move to one following a stay in hospital, by Social Services following an assessment or by your residential care home if they are no longer able to cater for your health needs.
If you are assessed as needing nursing care you will receive a payment from the NHS towards the cost of nursing. If your health needs are advanced or you are terminally ill the NHS may meet the full cost of your care under their continuing care scheme. Details of these benefits are given in our state benefits section.
