Start by writing yourself a list something like this.....

What is your ideal outcome?

Make sure you know the result that you would ideally like before you start.

Arrange legal representation

If you want someone else, such as a relative or close friend to arrange care for you, or if you are arranging the care for someone who can no longer make decisions for themselves, you will need to organise a Lasting Power of Attorney or deputy order.

Get an Assessment

Arrange for a ’section 47’ care assessment

Work out your funding

How is this going to be paid for?  What will the state pay? Is there a spouse or partner to consider?

Choose your care

Now you know what you can afford you can choose carers or a home that is within budget.

Easy...

It is unlikely to be easy.  There are so many external pressures such as hospitals trying to release beds, care homes offering places when you are not ready, that it is unlikely that everything will go according to plan!  Starting with a plan will make the process easier...we promise!
